Rhyme Time is anytime children want to hear a rhyme or write a rhyme. “Poetry is where language is renewed”, to quote Margaret Atwood. Rhyme Time is a book of poems about contemporary issues facing children and adolescents. But it is also about fun rhymes to make young and old laugh out loud.
Poems to laugh and poems to cry
and poems to explain the reasons “why”… is the Rhyme Time motto.
Poems for those ages 2 to 80…rhyming can be enjoyed anytime by anyone !
Rhyming is a way to “renew language” and to record moods and emotions beyond what we think of as “everyday language”. Rhyming is an excellent way to teach new ideas with interesting words, and to increase vocabulary, writing and listening skills. Fewer and fewer children’s authors use rhyme in their books, but Rhyme Time is all about rhyming stories with illustrations to enhance the rhyming language.
As a translator for deaf students, I have utilized many language tools to assist my students. Poetry is one such tool I use. Creative language as a symbol of culture and is the most concentrated form of literature that delivers powerful messages. Some writers think of poetry as prayer, and celebrations with the world. |
